Group Study Rooms: Keep 'Em Clean

Here are a few simple rules to follow when using a group study room:

  • Sign up for a room at the Reference Desk. If all rooms look full, ask at the Reference Desk anyway. CSP students have priority over non-CSP students.
  • Use the trash cans inside the rooms to dispose of your trash. If the can in your room is full, please throw your garbage in one of the many trash cans in and around the library. If your trash is recyclable, please recycle it.
  • If you spill something, let someone on the library staff know.
  • The walls are not soundproof. Being in a group study room doesn't mean you can be as loud as you want. Make sure you respect your fellow library users with your noise level.
  • Turn the lights off on your way out. They do not turn off automatically.

Group Study Room Policy

Starting Monday, August 30th, library staff will once again be monitoring the 4 Group Study Rooms on the main floor of the library. Here are the rules:
Sign up with your group members at the Reference Desk
2 person minimum – Single persons will be asked to study elsewhere, no exceptions
2 hour time limits per group
CSP students have priority

This policy is to ensure that everyone has a fair chance of using the study rooms. There are plenty of areas for single-person study on the main and lower levels in chairs and study carrels, and there are 4 Individual Study Rooms directly across the hall from the Group Study Rooms which are not monitored.

New Policy for Group Study Rooms: Sign Up @ the Reference Desk

Due to high demand for study rooms, a new policy will take effect on Monday, November  23rd. This new policy's purpose is a fairer distribution of study room time among a greater number of users. The new policy entails:

  • - You now must sign up to use the 4 person study rooms.

  • - To sign up, stop at the Reference Desk. You will be asked for ID. If you are a Concordia student, make sure to show your Concordia ID instead of your government-issued ID.

  • - Priority for the rooms will go to Concordia students. Check at the Ref Desk for the next available room.

  • - You can sign up for 2 hours at a time per group.

  • - Minimum group size is 2/Maximum group size is 4.

  • - You can still reserve the rooms in advance; now this can be done at the Reference Desk.

We hope this will encourage people who have given up hope of getting access to a study room to give it another try.
